We're getting married
August 2026 · Uganda
The Celebration
Saturday, 1st August, 2026
On this day we shall have the give-away ceremony, also known as the traditional wedding in Uganda. This is a cultural ceremony that takes place at the bride's family home and will be held in Bunyonyi, Kabale — about a 6 to 7 hour drive from Kampala. It is also the home of Lake Bunyonyi, the second deepest lake in Africa.
Sunday, 2nd August, 2026
After a long night of activities, we shall have a boat cruise on the famous Lake Bunyonyi, followed by zip lining. Fun fact: this lake inspired some of the scenes you watched in the Black Panther movie.
Saturday, 8th August, 2026
On this day, we shall have the church wedding, where we will receive Holy Matrimony. It will be held at St. Augustine's Chapel, Makerere at 12pm, after which we shall have the reception starting at 2pm at Jevine Hotel, Rubaga. The hotel is located about 20 minutes from the church.
Accommodation
There are a number of accommodation options, hotels and Airbnbs, within the vicinity of the venue. For the most part, Airbnbs could be the more affordable option, and Ugandans are the most hospitable people in the world (I wish I was bragging 😉).

How we met
Our story is one that was orchestrated by kindness.
We met through a mini-bus taxi conductor who was looking for someone with knowledge of a school where Precious was heading to pick up her brother's report card. I happened to be the only person willing to volunteer, and also the only one alighting at the point nearest to the road that leads to that school. As we got off, a torrential downpour derailed the plans. Out of kindness, I suggested to the stranger that we go to my home and meet my family while we waited out the rain. She accepted, and here we are now.
Our first date was at a place in Kampala called Café Javas, at Oasis Mall. From then on, we've been to places we grew up watching in movies, collecting memories along the way, and we cannot wait for the rest of our time on earth together.
With Love
The best gift you can give us is your presence. If you'd also like to contribute towards our honeymoon fund, give a financial gift, or help us furnish our new home, you can do so securely below.
Uganda has one international airport, called Entebbe (EBB). From the airport, you can easily order an Uber, or if internet is a challenge, there are always local taxis waiting outside — who knows, maybe that could be the beginning of your love story 😉
While You're Here
Kampala is completely unforgettable, and we can't wait for you to experience its energy! It's a beautifully chaotic, friendly city built across rolling green hills, with so much to see. If you have some free time, we highly recommend climbing the minaret at the Uganda National Mosque for the absolute best view of the city, or walking through the peaceful gardens at the Bahá'í Temple if you want to escape the traffic. For a real taste of local life, you have to grab a "Rolex" (our favourite local street food — a delicious fried chapati rolled with an omelette) from a street vendor, or dive into the bustling madness of Owino Market. We hope you fall in love with the city's warmth and rhythm just as much as we have!
